Degrees and Certificates

Personal Growth and Transformation is an experiential program designed to further assist the candidate in self-understanding and awareness of the larger spiritual plan. Upon enrollment and beginning of monthly tuition payments, participants are assigned a personal spiritual mentor and may then audit classes as suits their schedule and interests.

Certificate of Spiritual Studies (CSS) is awarded to students upon completion of the basic courses core to the spiritual teachings and theology of Sancta Sophia Seminary. As the entry to the universal teachings from ancient wisdom sources, this curriculum is the foundation of all continued studies at the seminary. When this study is completed the student may apply for Practitioner Certification (Lay Minister) from Light of Christ Community Church. Certificate in Spiritual Studies Curriculum Brochure

Certificate in Ministerial Studies (CMS) is awarded to students upon completion of additional courses related to pastoral ministry. Students develop greater skills in spiritual disciplines, sacraments, leadership, pastoral care, and spiritual healing. Credential for Esoteric Teachings (CET) is awarded to students who fulfill most of the required courses outlined for a Certificate in Ministerial Studies with the exception of rituals, liturgy and homiletics. Master of Divinity (MDiv) is awarded students who complete 88 credit units of study plus a practicum. Sancta Sophia’s Master of Divinity uniquely prepares graduates to minister in chaplain roles in hospital or hospice type settings. A Master of Divinity is the preferred level of scholastic achievement for ministry today. While many other seminaries offer a MDiv degree, Sancta Sophia has established a unique curriculum emphasizing personal Spiritual Formation, Pastoral Counseling, and Esoteric Psychology in addition to Spiritual Philosophy, Sacred Texts, Church Leadership, and Theology. Master of Spirituality is awarded students who complete 86 credit units of study plus a project. Sancta Sophia Seminary’s Master of Arts in Spirituality degree program offers tools for personal transformation and a greater understanding of our soul’s purpose. Doctor of Ministry (DMin) is awarded to ministers who have completed:  24 credit units within the required and customized curriculum, an original ministry project, and an accepted dissertation. Designed as a program for professional ministers, the Doctor of Ministry combines creativity and advanced study with theory and praxis grounded in academics and the community of faith. Students enrolled in this degree program attend six (6) weeks of intensives on campus, participate in a cyber support community, and complete a dissertation based on their area of focus in ministry.
