Many on-campus classes are offered just once a year and some are available every alternate year. In addition, Sancta Sophia Seminary offers many one to three-day workshops on special subjects which are open to all.
Here you can view the upcoming schedule of classes to help plan your pursuit of esoteric studies for the upcoming months.
Christianity was a very human response to the Christ’s message of love, inclusiveness, and expanding human consciousness. It has exhibited broad diversity of beliefs, observances, attitudes and behavior. Christianity’s 2,000-year history reveals saintliness and depravity; turmoil, disagreements and reconciliations; episodes of glory, tragedy, comedy, rejoicing and sadness. Nevertheless, Christianity’s mysteries continue to impress us, along with the insights of its mystics, the attainments of its scholars, and the selflessness of those who serve in Christ’s name.
The course will examine Christianity’s origins, failures and successes and will explore what can be done to ensure that Christ’s vision for humanity and the world is realized more completely as we move into the Aquarian Age.

We know that advancement on the spiritual path is enhanced by meditation. As guides, we learn how to teach others the science of meditation and explore universal laws with their everyday application to life. Understanding the difference between spiritual emergencies and physiological problems and their treatment is an important function of the wellness guide. Spiritual wellness—the alignment of inner and outer selves—can be activated by utilizing ancient, as well as contemporary, wisdom of both East and West.
This is one of three components required for Wellness Guide certification. Note: Wellness Guide Program classes begin on the Saturday morning prior to Grad Week and continue on the Sunday prior and the Saturday following Grad Week. Wellness Guide enrollees also participate in Grad Week activities with other seminary students.

During this blessing, the recipient remains fully clothed, lying on a healing table, while one of the ancient biblical healing oils is intuitively chosen for him or her. The ritual, inspired by the desire to be in resonance with the loving compassionate heart of God, establishes a connection and an energy balance between the heart and the mind. The blessing takes about 20 minutes and recipients make donations to support the work of the Wellness Center.
According to St. Augustine, the true religion has always been in existence, but when Christ came in the flesh it began to be called Christianity. Together we will explore the Faith, its origins, and its powerful message. Esoteric teachings are designed to lead us deep within to the core of our nature and turn on the energies that ignite Love-Wisdom and the Will to walk the Path of Initiation.
The powerful magnet Christianity introduced to the world through the message of Jesus Christ was "equality" for all. As souls we recognize our sameness, but we also all realize personalities are not equal. Some are more talented, some less so, but the Soul of each is precious. We strive for a way to live from the heart. We shall explore the lessons, assignments, and tools of transformation to make them our own. (Bring EC 101 lessons by Carol Parrish or pay $50 material fee.)

Embracing Sophia as the Holy Spirit of Wisdom, we will expand our understanding through a new look at the Bible, grasping a bit of Gnosticism, exploring the Mysteries and the role of prayer and meditation. Within our era Christianity is maturing to take its place within the family of world religions. We would be wise ones of our tradition.
We embrace the healing consciousness as we move from dogma to spirituality, from the law approach to the heart centered way of life. We restore respect for the Mother who has always been with us even when her presence was denied. The holy path leads deep within, and we are destined to come to know the ways of the Soul. We shall continue to use the EC course lessons and learn how to lead others in the study of them. (Bring EC 102 lessons by Carol Parrish or pay $50 material fee)

This workshop will explore the role and legends of Mary Magdalene, the “beloved companion” of the Bridegroom/King sacrificed at the Spring Equinox. Ms. Starbird will discuss Mary’s story as a woman but more importantly as the embodiment of Sophia and the archetype of the “Lost Bride”–the feminine principle denigrated in Western Civilization. Slides of medieval artworks and an experiential art meditation will enhance the experience of the “Bride in Exile” and the importance of reclaiming the Sacred Partnership of Christ and Sophia that was once at the heart of the Christian story.

Play is perhaps the least-recognized of the Divine Feminine’s expressions. Too much left-brain focus can cause us to crystallize into predictability, to allow busy-ness to slide into workaholism, to get stuck in being serious. Your face really can freeze that way! Come experience the possibilities of play as spiritual practice. We’ll co-create a safe, sacred space where we can let go of the need to do things “properly” and allow Sophia’s playful creative energy to flow. Spiritual exploration can be joyful and fun.

You are invited to join Rev. Parrish on this exciting trip to Turkey, a country she has visited many times and knows well. With its ancient history and many layers of civilization, Turkey has much to share. We shall learn together in our travels.
All seven of the early churches were in Turkey, and Turkey was the first Christian nation. Here the infant Christianity struggled with both the religions of old and Judaism to become first the official, and later the exclusive, religion of the Roman Empire by the end of the fourth century CE.
The oldest written history is found here.
This region saw the rise and fall of the Hittites, Assyrians, Cimmerians (the Biblical Gomer), the Scythians (the Biblical Ashkenaz),the Polemies and Seleucids. This is the land of the ladies of antiquity: Kubaba, Kybele, Cybele, and Artemis, as well as devotion to Mother Mary, who is loved here.
In the midst of the journey, the Seminary will sponsor a conference on Appollonius, the mysterious philosopher. Often it is suggested that many of the stories in the Bible attributed to Master Jesus were taken from the mysteries of Appollonius. The controversy around Appollonius is becoming more and more public, and we shall hear it from the country of his birth.

Maturity does not occur just because we reach a certain chronological age. It takes place as we navigate the various passages that lead us nearer and nearer to the domain of our soul. On the Spiritual Path, one may disregard the need to explore and pass through many of the emotional and psychological passages on the road to maturity, resulting in postponement of attaining the spiritual depths desired. Based on the book The Soul of Adulthood, this workshop will explore many of these passages. Each participant will discover in which passages they may be having difficulties and learn skills to enhance their ability to learn and grow from these passages on their journey to maturity and the soul of adulthood.

This course will examine the teachings of Virginia Satir and how they relate to and enhance her wish to achieve "Peace within, Peace between, Peace among". Satir, at the age of five, decided to become "a children's detective on parents". She wanted to make sense of all the contradictions, deletions and distortions she observed in the relationships around her. We will examine the tools she developed to enhance self-esteem, which is the most important factor affecting behavior. A pioneer in working with human systems, she included physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects in her work with individuals, families, and groups. We will look at ways to deal with the chaos accompanying change as we meet personal and world challenges.
